Three Core Technologies for Virtualization-Based Desktop Management

Virtualization changes the game of IT: now IT can deliver the full stack of PC software, including the operating system, to be run on say an employee's PC running Windows or Mac OS. Virtualization is an enabler and not a management tool per se. This session will describe three core
technologies to fulfill the promise of virtualization for mobile desktop management. They are:
(1) Differential-Update, that allows IT to remain in control even in the face of a zero-day security breach,
(2) Layered-Personalization, that uses file-system layering technology to let users personalize their environments on top of one managed virtual machine
(3) VM-Flash , that makes it safe and quick to
run VMs on USB drives and cell phones
Speaker Bio: Monica Lam is a Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University and is the founder of MokaFive. She received a B.Sc. from University of British Columbia and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University and has worked in the areas of compiler optimization, software analysis and virtualization.
